ORIENTATION
AND SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Week
1: Introductions, orientation, administrative
tasks; introductory library science workshop; presentation of research
projects by CEA-CREST faculty; grounding workshops 1 and 2; organization
of working space and conditions; welcome reception.
Week
2: Grounding workshops; organization of
teams; selection of team roles; kick-off meeting with project PIs;
gathering of preliminary data, information, and literature on each
sub-project; field immersion experience at UC Merced.
Weeks 3-10:
Laboratory
and field research.
Week
10: Final projects due; final project presentations;
farewell reception.
In
addition to these specific activities, the students will participate
in/submit the following weekly activities/items: Research (laboratory
and field); group meeting with project PI; progress report to project
PI and site manager; end-of-week meeting with site manager.
Each year the students will write up and present orally a
report on the particular aspect for which they were responsible
(logging, sensor deployment, working with modelers to input the
flow), as well as an overview of the group findings and their interpretation.
