general information

The Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS) major is a unique program designed for students who have academic goals that cannot be met by any one degree program. Students must have a clear idea of what they want to study, and they must be able to show how this program will assist them in their future career. Students work with faculty advisors to design an interdisciplinary program tailored to the needs of the student. The interdisciplinary program does not belong to any department, instead it draws on the strengths of multiple departments. Therefore, it may be an ideal major for students with a strong interest in environmental science.

A student's program may be comprised of multiple departments within one college (e.g. Biology and Geography in the College of Natural & Social Sciences) or from multiple departments in different colleges (e.g. Biology in the College of Natural & Social Sciences, and Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering & Technology). Applications for programs within one college should be submitted to the Dean of that college. Applications for programs in two or more different colleges should be submitted to the Dean of Graduate Studies & Research. For additional information, please consult the current CSLA University Catalog.
