g.p.a.
guidelines
CEA-CREST
strives for academic excellence among all of its students. Therefore,
students applying or receiving a CEA-CREST fellowship or research
assistantship must have and maintain a minimum Grade Point Average
(G.P.A.) throughout their participation in the CEA-CREST program.
The following are the G.P.A. guidelines for the CEA-CREST program:
- Students
applying for a graduate fellowship need to have a G.P.A. of 2.75
or above, based on the last 90 quarter-units (60 semester-units)
attempted.
- At
the discretion of the faculty advisor and Program Director, a
student with an overall G.P.A. between 2.75 and 3.0 may be considered
for a CEA-CREST fellowship or research assistantship. Such a student
would be accepted on probationary status. The faculty advisor
decides if the length of the probationary period is one or two
quarters. If the student has a 3.0 or higher G.P.A. during the
probationary period, that student becomes an official CEA-CREST
fellow or research assistant. If not, the student loses CEA-CREST
support.
- To
maintain their stipends, students are expected to have a minimum
cumulative 3.0 G.P.A. during each quarter classes are taken. If
in a quarter a student has a cumulative G.P.A. below 3.0, a warning
letter will be sent. The student must return to a 3.0 quarter
G.P.A. by the completion of the quarter after the warning letter
is mailed. For instance, if the Fall cumulative G.P.A. was 2.5,
a warning letter is sent during Winter quarter. A student must
have a 3.0 or higher in Winter or Spring quarter classes, otherwise
the participation in CEA-CREST is terminated.
